Now let’s know more about the places in which we’ll bring you to…Capri and the Emerald Grotto.
Emerald Grotto
It is a karst cavity, partially invaded by sea and situated in Conca de’ Marini. It has been discovered in 1932 by the fisherman Luigi Buonocore. It is 50 x 35 yd large. Its name comes from the special color, the emerald all over the cavity.
A long time ago it was above the sea level, for this reason there are stalactites and stalagmites which sometimes merge into a 10 yd long columns. After a bradyseism the ground lowered down. There is a rare specie of Anemonactis mazely (an aquatic invertebrate animal). On the seafloor of the grotto there’s a presepe with ceramic statues.
Want to know something about Capri?
Capri
Capri is different from Ischia and Procida. Initially it was part of the Sorrento Peninsula, then the sea separated it from the mainland. It is placed as 21st largest island of Italy, which means it is pretty small, but the views are priceless. The Faraglioni of Capri are very famous and fascinating, they are three small rocky islets in front of the main island. The island is wellk-now by celebrities from all over the world and many private yachts stay in front of the island during the summer months. You have some breath-taking narrow alleys and the smell of fresh lemons, oranges and flowers everywhere.
The Island has many animal and plant species. There’s much to visit in Capri, so it’s better to leave you a list with the main attractions:
- Blue Grotto
- Augustus Gardens
- Via Krupp
- Villa San Michele
- Faraglioni
- Villa Jovis
- James Chartreuse
- Punta Tragara
Beaches
We are very close to various beaches: Marina di Praia, between two high walls of rocks, 15 minutes walking and Cala della Gavitella with its famous One Fire beach with bathing facilities and restaurants.
If you want to see an unreal sunset coloured in 50 shades of red, the beach we suggest you is Cala della Gavitella as it’s the only beach of the coast illuminated until sunset, thanks to its position exposed to the west. Moreover, there’s an amazing view on Capri and Positano.
